Being a small school coach in rural Oklahoma is a tough job. Unlike larger, more urban school coaches, they are often stretched between multiple teaching and coaching duties and do not have a large support staff to assist them. Wright City head girls basketball coach Misty Haley is thankful for players like Raelyn Beene.

“Raelyn Beene is a great leader on the court and off of it. She motivates her teammates and plays a big role in helping form our team’s character.”

Raelyn is involved not just in athletics, but also is a key contributor to her community. She has worked multiple jobs while also taking part in both church and community projects. Raelyn is always active in one area or another and is a leader by example, according to Coach Haley.

“She’s a role model and a positive influence on our younger girls. It’s always beneficial to have a player like that on your team.”
