OFFENSE

The Cougars are looking to open things up on offense and run a pro-style set giving head coach Wesley Jackson the opportunity to get the ball in the hands of his playmakers. “Pro allows us to have a balanced offense with the players we have as well as get as many players involved in each offensive series against an assortment of defenses,” said coach Jackson. One player to watch this season is wide receiver Jake Brewster (5-10, 155, Sr.). Brewster had over 800 total yards last year with 11 touchdowns. The anchor of the offensive line this season is Issac Tanner (6-0, 190, Sr.). Tanner has developed into a solid player up frontfor the Cougars. With only three returning starters, the Cougars and coach Jackson will need several underclassmen to step up and fill in the holes left by graduation.

DEFENSE

“Modern high school offenses are not accustomed to the old school gap control of the 3-4 defense. Opposing teams will spend more time than usual coaching blocking assignments in order to prepare for this defense,” said coach Jackson. Tanner is a two-way player the Cougars will use on defense as one of the ends charged with containing the edge. Cornerback Jake Brewster had 45 tackles last year and his ability to find the football in the air makes him a tough corner to throw on. “Canadian in the 2020 season will have a young eager group of athletes following a large 2019 graduating class,” said coach Jackson.
